About This Course

Additionally, the course will examine the impact of immersive technologies across various sec-tors such as education, healthcare, entertainment, and beyond, highlighting their potential to transform everyday experiences.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the fundamental principles and concepts behind immersive technologies and their respective hardware and software ecosystems.
  • Develop the technical skills necessary for designing and creating immersive experiences, such as 3D modeling, animation, real-time rendering, and user interface design, with a focus on user-centered design principles.
  • Analyze and critically evaluate the application of immersive technologies across various industries, including education, healthcare, entertainment, and retail, to understand their impact, benefits, and challenges.

This course is offered in odd quarters and can, therefore1, be selected as an elective in the following study programs:

  • M.Sc. Cybersecurity
  • M.Sc. Applied AI
  • M.Sc. Digital Leadership
  • MBA Digital Technologies
  • MBA Digital Transformation

1: Generally all mandatory modules of a study program can be selected as an elective in all study programs in which they are not offered as a mandatory module. However, there are several rules that apply. First, at least half of the selected electives have to be taken from your study program. Second, all electives are only available in either odd or even quarters. Therefore, not all electives are available in all programs (given that you want to finish the program within the regular time frame and do not want to take that elective in parallel to your impact project.)

Micro Degree

  • This course is offered as a micro degree.
  • German UDS Micro Degrees are compatible with the European MOOC Consortiums Common Micro Credentials Framework.
  • Micro Degrees will be rewarded with an equivalent of 5 ECTS.
  • Micro Degrees are offered to non-regular students and require a fee of €900.

With a strong background in Business Administration and Computer Science, he leads an interdisciplinary team at straightlabs in developing innovative training formats from concept to implementation. As a trailblazer in the world of XR corporate training, Fabrizio leverages his extensive experience and expertise to create groundbreaking projects in areas such as professional development, immersive arts, and gaming. Notably, he has also contributed to the development of the immersive media designer apprenticeship in Germany as one of the selected experts from the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB). In academia, Fabrizio held a professorship at the University of Applied Management and serves as a guest professor at prestigious institutions like the Technical University of Munich, Ravensburg University of Cooperative Education, Munich University of Applied Sciences, and Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland. Fabrizio Palmas enhances the TUM Center for Educational Technologies as a member of their Advisory Board, bringing his knowledge to the forefront of educational technology advancement. His research interests span a wide range of topics, including extended reality, innovative corporate training and lifelong learning, gamification, and artificial intelligence. As a committed member of the Open Gamification Code of Ethics (ID: 00117), he is dedicated to promoting ethical practices in the application of gamification strategies.
